Gianninni and Ascenco take Ironman 70.3 Brazil

Champions run their way to titles in Penha, Brazil

It was a day for the runners at Ironman 70.3 Brazil on Saturday as Brazilians Vanessa Giannini
and Santiago Alves Ascenco won Ironman 70.3 Brazil.

Gianinni was passed by Heather Gollnick during the ride, but ran more than seven minutes faster
than the American to take the women's title.

Ascenco's screamingly fast 1:12:25 run split put him more than five minutes up on the rest of the field. Pre-race men's favorites Oscar Galindez and Reinaldo Coluccie finished fourth and fifth.
